Specialist Somatic Therapy for Trauma & Nervous System Healing

Whole-body healing that goes beyond the mind and understadning alone

You may understand it. But your body is still living it.
You may know why you do what you do. You may see the patterns. You know you over-give. You overthink. You take on too much. You try to get everything right. You know you need to leave the relationship, the job, the situation.

You know you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You know you can't keep doing things this way. You may even have talked about it many times before.

And yet, somehow, you still find yourself doing it.

You say yes when you mean no.
You keep everyone else happy.
You take responsibility for things that aren't yours.
You push yourself until you're exhausted, then wonder why you can't switch off.
You feel anxious, overwhelmed or constantly 'on'.
You struggle to trust yourself, speak up, rest, receive, or simply be without feeling that you should be doing something else.
Or perhaps you've experienced narcissistic abuse, coercive control, bullying or other difficult environments where you had to constantly adapt yourself to keep the peace or stay safe.

None of this means there is something wrong with you.
There is usually a very good reason you learned to be this way.

Your nervous system learned how to keep you safe.
Think about how quickly you can read a room.

How quickly you notice someone's mood.

How easily you know when something has changed.

Perhaps you learned to keep the peace.

To be helpful, capable and easy to be around.

To achieve.

To stay small.

To take care of everyone else.

To never make a mistake.

To keep going, even when you were exhausted.

To put what you needed aside because someone else's needs felt more important.

At the time, these ways of being may have helped you feel safer, more connected or more in control.
They weren't flaws. They were adaptations.

The problem is that something you learned to do to get through life can continue long after you need it.

So you can know, logically, that you don't need to please everyone.

You can know that you're allowed to say no.

You can know that the relationship isn't healthy.

You can know that you need to rest.

And still find yourself doing the opposite.

That's where understanding alone can sometimes leave you.

You understand the pattern.

But knowing it hasn't necessarily changed it.
This is where somatic therapy comes in.
Somatic therapy brings your mind and body into the same conversation.

Because you are not just a mind having thoughts about what has happened to you.

Your experiences live in the way you respond, relate, protect yourself, push yourself, shut down, hold back and move through the world.

So rather than only talking about the pattern, we begin to heal and decode what is happening underneath it.
Within your body.

Your nervous system.

Your emotions.

Your thoughts.

Your sense of yourself.

And the ways you've learned to protect yourself.

You don't have to force yourself to change.

And you don't have to keep digging into the past simply because you know something happened there.
We work with what is happening for you now, at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
You don't have to know exactly what's brought you here.
Maybe you're exhausted.

Maybe you're burned out and don't know how much longer you can keep going like this.

Maybe you can't seem to relax, even when everything is fine.

Maybe you keep ending up in relationships or situations where you abandon yourself.

Maybe you're the person everyone relies on, but nobody seems to notice how much it costs you.

Maybe you've become so used to being strong, capable and accommodating that you're not even sure what you want anymore.

Maybe you've experienced trauma or abuse and know that something in you is still responding as though the danger is there.

Or perhaps you simply know:

I don't want to keep living like this.

You don't need a diagnosis.

You don't need the perfect words.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.

We start with what is happening for you now.

How somatic therapy can help
Somatic therapy can support you with:

-
People-pleasing, over-giving and difficulty saying no
-
Perfectionism, over-functioning and burnout
-
Anxiety, overwhelm and feeling constantly on
-
Difficulty trusting yourself or your own judgement
-
Boundaries, guilt and fear of conflict
-
Losing yourself in relationships, family or work
-
Feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions
-
Emotional shutdown, disconnection or feeling numb
-
Patterns shaped by relational trauma or difficult family dynamics
-
Narcissistic abuse and coercive control
-
Workplace stress, bullying or challenging environments
-
Feeling stuck, exhausted or disconnected from yourself
These things can look very different on the surface.

But underneath, there may be a part of you that has become very good at protecting you in a particular way.
And it may simply not know yet that things can be different.
What changes when you begin to feel safer in yourself?
The goal isn't to become a different person.

You don't need to become less caring.

Less capable.

Less ambitious.

Less sensitive.

Less you.

It's about having more choice.

More space.

More trust in yourself.

More capacity to respond rather than automatically react.

You begin to notice what you need, and actually listen to it.

You can say no without being completely consumed by guilt.

You can rest without feeling like you've failed.

You can let someone be unhappy with you without immediately feeling that you've done something wrong.

You can move through difficult emotions without being completely taken over by them.

You can stay connected to yourself, even when someone else is disappointed, angry or uncomfortable.
You start to feel more present in your own life.

Not becoming someone else. Becoming yourself.

Healing happens in the whole of you.
Somatic therapy brings together mind, body and nervous system work in a way that is personal to you.

Depending on what you need, we may work with body awareness, nervous system regulation, somatic trauma processing, breath, movement, emotions, beliefs, boundaries, relational patterns and the protective strategies you've developed along the way.

The work is gentle, responsive and paced around your capacity.

You don't have to force yourself to change.

And you don't necessarily have to talk in detail about difficult experiences for your body to begin processing what it has been carrying.

We begin by understanding what your system learned, why it learned it, and what it needs now.

Because the same system that learned how to survive can learn new ways of responding, relating and living.

And when change begins to happen at that deeper level, something starts to shift.

You don't just understand it intellectually.

You begin to feel it.

More space.

More ease.

More capacity.

More trust in yourself.

More freedom to choose how you live, rather than automatically living from old patterns.

And that change can reach into far more than the way you feel.

It can change the way you relate.

The way you work.

The way you rest.

The way you speak.

The choices you make.

The relationships you have.

The way you move through your life.

It can be the beginning of something much deeper:

a life that feels more alive - from the inside out.
