Specialist Somatic Therapy for Trauma & Nervous System Healing
Whole-body healing that goes beyond the mind and understanding alone.
A note about therapy.
After many years of working therapeutically with women, my support is increasingly expanding through coaching, education and retreats. I still offer a small number of therapy spaces alongside this work, however availability is currently limited.
To enquire about therapy availability, please book an Exploration Call.

If you've arrived here, I know that you are used to carrying a lot. But I sense you've found your way here because you're wanting to take some different steps forward. I would welcome supporting you there.
I draw on a rich range of specialist approaches woven together with presence, care, intuition and years of dedicated practice in this area. My work is deeply personal, integrative and meets you where you are.
We work with the whole of you, mind, body, nervous system and soul, so that healing isn't just something you understand. It's something you begin to feel.

You may understand it. But your body is still living it.
You may know why you do what you do. You may see the patterns. You know you over-give. You overthink. You take on too much. You try to get everything right. You know you need to leave the relationship, the job, the situation.
You know you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You know you can't keep doing things this way. You may even have talked about it many times before.
Or perhaps you've experienced narcissistic abuse, coercive control, bullying or other difficult environments where you had to constantly adapt yourself to keep the peace or stay safe.
And even understanding this, you find yourself still doing it or feeling it.
You say yes when you mean no.
You keep everyone else happy.
You take responsibility for things that aren't yours.
You push yourself until you're exhausted, then wonder why you can't switch off.
You feel anxious, overwhelmed or constantly 'on'.
You struggle to trust yourself, speak up, rest, receive, or simply be without feeling that you should be doing something else.
You stay in situations and environments that diminish you.
None of this means there is something wrong with you.
There is usually a very good reason you learned to be this way.

Your nervous system learned how to keep you safe.
Think about how quickly you can read a room.
How quickly you notice someone's mood.
How easily you know when something has changed.
Perhaps you learned to keep the peace.
To be helpful, capable and easy to be around.
To achieve.
To stay small.
To take care of everyone else.
To never make a mistake.
To keep going, even when you were exhausted.
To put what you needed aside because someone else's needs felt more important.
At the time, these ways of being may have helped you feel safer, more connected or more in control.
They weren't flaws. They were adaptations.
The thing is that something you learned to do to move through life can continue, even long after the events happened.
So you can know, logically, that you don't need to please everyone.
You can know that you're allowed to say no.
You can know that the relationship isn't healthy.
You can know that you need to rest.
And still find yourself doing the opposite.
That's where understanding alone can sometimes leave you.
You understand the pattern. You understand what you have experienced and lived through.
But knowing it hasn't necessarily changed it.
This is where somatic therapy comes in.

Somatic therapy brings your mind and body into the same conversation.
Because you are not just a mind having thoughts about what has happened to you.
Your experiences live in the way you respond, relate, protect yourself, push yourself, shut down, hold back and move through the world.
So rather than only talking about the pattern, we begin to heal and decode what is happening underneath it.
Within your body.
Your nervous system.
Your emotions.
Your thoughts.
Your sense of yourself.
And the ways you've learned to protect yourself.
You don't have to force yourself to change.
And you don't have to keep digging into the past simply because you know something happened there.
We work with what is showing for you now, at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
Sometimes you don't know what the pattern is.
Sometimes you know exactly what is happening. You can see the pattern, understand where it came from and know what you want to change.
And sometimes it's not that clear.
You may simply know that something is still affecting you. You feel it in your body, in your reactions, in your relationships or in the way you move through the world, but you can't quite reach it through understanding alone.
This can be especially true after trauma, abuse, loss or experiences that have left a lasting imprint on your nervous system and body.
Somatic therapy gives us another way in.
We can begin with what you are noticing now, rather than needing to have the right explanation for it.
We work with the body, nervous system, emotions and protective responses, gently exploring what is there and what your system may still be carrying.

You don't have to know exactly what's brought you here.
You don't need the perfect words.
We start with what is happening for you now.
Not just in your mind and thoughts, we also start listening to your body and nervous system.

Healing happens in the whole of you.
Somatic therapy brings together mind, body and nervous system work in a way that is personal to you.
Depending on what you need, we may work with body awareness, nervous system regulation, somatic trauma processing, breath, movement, emotions, beliefs, boundaries, relational patterns and the protective strategies you've developed along the way.
The work is gentle, responsive and paced around your capacity.
You don't have to force yourself to change.
And you don't necessarily have to talk in detail about difficult experiences for your body to begin processing what it has been carrying.
We begin by understanding what your system learned, what it is holding onto, and what it needs now.
And when change begins to happen at that deeper level, something starts to shift.
You don't just understand it intellectually.
You begin to feel it.

Between sessions, I offer gentle practices to help you integrate the work into your everyday life, so healing continues to move through you long after our time together ends
Sessions can be held online via zoom, making specialist support accessible wherever you are in the world, or in-person at my practice space in Totnes, Devon.
Therapy Sessions
Sessions can be 60 or 90 minutes, depending on what feels most appropriate.
60 minute session | £95
90 minute session | £140

Personalised practices are included between sessions, giving you ways to continue supporting yourself and integrating the work into your everyday life.
Intensive Therapy Package
For times when you want more concentrated support, I also offer Intensive Therapy blocks.
You can book a block of therapeutic time in advance, or use the hours flexibly, according to what is needed.
An intensive approach can be particularly supportive for during a period of significant change or transition, when you need more space to work through something specific, or when we are working more deeply with trauma and somatic processing.
9 hour Intensive Therapy Package | £750
Saving £105 compared with individual 60-minute sessions.
The 9 hours can be used flexibly across multiple sessions over a period of up to three months. Sessions can be 60, 90 or up to 180 minutes, depending on what is most appropriate for the work.
