Personalised Nervous System Mapping
Including Breathing Assessment
In person / Online
Everything changes when you understand your unique nervous system behaviour.
How can we support what we don't fully understand?
We're constantly being told to regulate our nervous system.
How do you know what you're trying to support if you don't know what your system is actually doing?
Your nervous system influences so much of how you experience life: how you feel in your body, how you think, how you respond, how you relate, how you use your energy and how much capacity you have available to you.
And yet many of us have never stopped to understand our own nervous system behaviour.
We can become so accustomed to being switched on, pushing through, overthinking, monitoring, pleasing, bracing or shutting down that it simply feels like who we are.

This isn't about learning to regulate yourself better so that you can carry on exactly as you are. This is to help you stop endlessly trying things and start supporting what is really going on.
Your nervous system is unique to you

Your nervous system has its own baseline, responses and ways of adapting.
And sometimes, what feels normal isn't necessarily what is regulated.
You may think you're resting, when your system is actually still highly activated. You may think you've finally switched off, when your system has moved into a more shut-down or collapsed state. You may have become so used to being on that you don't recognise how much you are still carrying.
These can be some of the reasons why you find yourself stuck in cycles and patterns. It can be exhausting and confusing.
How do you know what you're trying to support if you don't know what your system is actually doing?
There is much more to your nervous system than simply being in fight or flight, or rest and digest. Your responses can move and change, and sometimes a state that feels familiar in dysregulation can be mistaken for a state that is settled.
That's why generic nervous-system advice can only take us so far.
Mapping helps you understand your individual nervous system behaviour, so you can begin to distinguish what is familiar from what is genuinely supportive for you.
Signs you may benefit from mapping
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from understanding your nervous system.
Your nervous system has a huge influence on how you feel, think, function, connect and respond. Understanding how yours works can help you support your energy, focus, capacity and overall sense of wellbeing, rather than waiting until something feels wrong.
You might simply be curious about your nervous system and want to understand it better. Or you might recognise some of these signs:
You are always switched on, even when you're trying to relax.
You find it hard to properly switch off or settle.
You feel tired but wired, or exhausted but unable to properly rest.
You overthink, second-guess yourself or struggle to think clearly.
You find yourself people-pleasing, over-giving or putting other people's needs before your own.
You tread carefully around other people's moods or feel like you're walking on eggshells.
You find it difficult to say no, set boundaries or disappoint people.
You notice yourself monitoring other people's reactions, faces or moods.
You feel responsible for keeping everyone else happy or okay.
You sometimes react more strongly than you expect, or shut down when things feel too much.
You have become so used to being "on" that you're not sure what genuinely relaxed feels like.
You have tried nervous-system practices but aren't sure what is actually helping.
You understand nervous-system regulation intellectually, but don't really understand your own system.
You don't have to wait until you reach burnout to understand what your nervous system needs.

What happens in your mapping session?

A personalised map of your nervous system and breathing patterns. So you can finally understand what you're working with.
Over 90 minutes, we'll look at your nervous system behaviour, your baseline, your responses and your breathing to build a personalised picture of how your system is actually operating.
Using polyvagal-informed nervous-system understanding and specialist mapping techniques, we'll look at the things you may have come to think of as simply 'how I am' and start to understand what your nervous system may be doing underneath them.
This is about connecting the dots.
You'll be guided through the process in a gentle, practical way, with space to notice what is happening and make sense of your own responses.
And you'll leave with something much more useful than another regulation technique:
a detailed map of your own nervous system behaviour, what you're working with, what may need support and what you can do immediately to begin integrating change.

What becomes possible when you understand your nervous system
More capacity for the life you're actually living.
When your nervous system isn't continually preparing for what's next, managing what's happening around you or holding you in familiar patterns, there is more capacity available for life itself.
More capacity to think clearly.
More capacity to respond rather than react.
More capacity for connection, creativity and possibility.
More capacity to rest without feeling that you should be doing something else.
More capacity to be present with what is actually happening, rather than bracing for what might happen next.
You can begIn to experience yourself and your life differently.
Not constantly living from a place of bracing, managing or surviving, but with more space to respond, choose, connect and experience what is here.
Understanding your nervous system is not the destination. It's the beginning of having more choice in how you experience your life, your relationships, and your wellbeing and health.

Why we check your breathing

Your breathing is part of your nervous system story.
Your nervous system influences the way you breathe, and the way you breathe can also influence your nervous system.
Your breathing pattern is changing all the time in response to what you're experiencing, and it can become part of the way your system adapts to stress, activation, effort and emotion.
Because breathing is something you do every moment of every day, your breathing pattern is an important part of understanding how your particular system is operating.
As part of your mapping, we'll assess your breathing pattern alongside your nervous system behaviour, baseline and responses.
It's another piece of the picture that helps us understand how you are feeling, functioning and moving through the world.
What you'll leave with
A clearer understanding of yourself, and a practical way forward.
You'll leave with a clearer understanding of your unique nervous system behaviour, your baseline, your responses and your breathing patterns.
You'll uncover how your nervous system is influencing your sleep, energy and capacity, how you think, how you respond, how you relate to other people and why you may be caught in the cycles that you are.
Things that may have felt confusing or difficult to make sense of can begin to have a context.
You can start to recognise that your responses aren't random. There is a nervous-system story behind them.
And you'll have a personalised roadmap to take forward, whether you choose to work with that understanding yourself or explore it more deeply through coaching.
